Wisdom – It comes and goes.

So I haven’t written in a while.. and I feel now is a great time to. I have a lot of news but the most important is that I just went in for dental surgery. Yep, that’s right… me, Casandra – against all medical things – Willis… gave in and let someone cut me up. Believe me I’m just as mad at myself as you are.

They took 3 out of my 4 wisdom teeth. They weren’t causing me any discomfort… so why remove them then, you ask? Well.. here goes:

  1. This is the last year I’m covered under my parent’s insurance. The surgery cost $1,147.00… $1,000.00 of that was covered.
  2. My jaw is far too thin and brittle to support long wisdom tooth roots… extractions later on in life could cause more harm than good.
  3. There is absolutely no room in my mouth for the wisdom teeth. They were growing in sideways, leftways, rightways, and every-which-way you can imagine.
  4. I couldn’t reach them to brush them properly… two of them already had cavities… even though they were only half way out of my gums. Rotting wisdom teeth are extremely bad, as the rot can travel into the jaw bone eventually and that, folks, is much worse than just having them removed.
  5. Last but not least… I’m young. The younger you are, the faster and easier you heal. As the roots are more malleable… with age they lose elasticity and are a lot harder to work with, not to mention the pain is worse and healing is a bitch.
